CMT Action Month

Charcot-Marie-Tooth was discovered more than 130 years ago, yet we still have no treatments or cures. Although three million people worldwide are affected, few have heard of this disease.

To mark CMT Action Month this September, the CMT Research Foundation launched a month-long lineup of events, bringing together advocates and the CMT community from across the U.S. The series of events strive to raise awareness and critical funds for CMT research. With an estimated 1 in 2,500 individuals affected, the urgency for further research and treatment has never been greater.

To date, CMTRF has funded 24 projects, five of which are in the pre-clinical candidate stage.

All of the projects we are able to fund and the progress we can make in research are a direct result of the CMT community taking massive action: from the two patients who co-founded the organization, to 4,000 individuals who have donated to CMTRF, to patient-researchers dedicating every waking moment of their lives to finding treatments.
