The CMT Research Foundation has been evaluated for the first time by Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest charity evaluator, and earned a Four-Star Rating, the highest possible rating. Charity Navigator’s impartial, third-party evaluation validates CMTRF’s effectiveness, financial transparency and reliability.

“Our Four-Star Charity Navigator rating affirms the Foundation’s commitment to donors that their funds will be spent intelligently and only on the science with the best prospects of resulting in a cure for CMT,” says Peter de Silva, CMTRF Board Chair.

“It is the researchers, donors, volunteers and patient community that have driven this tremendous progress. We hope our rating will inspire new supporters to join us in advancing our singular mission to find a cure for CMT,” says Laura M. MacNeill, CMTRF CEO.

With more than 225,000 charities rated, Charity Navigator’s comprehensive ratings shine a light on the cost-effectiveness and overall health of a charity’s programs, including measures of stability, efficiency, and sustainability. The metrics inform donors of not just where their dollars are going but what their dollars are doing.

Among the metrics it measures:
• What the charity’s program(s) achieve relative to the cost required to run it.
• If the charity has the leadership capacity, strategic plan, and ability to adapt or respond to changing circumstances in order to better achieve its mission.
• Is the charity accountable, transparent, and financially efficient and sustainable
